Flyladies and Flybabies
Intro post
6th-Jan-2008 10:03 am

I joined this community recently but only just remembered to make an intro post here. I guess I need to start...using a calendar?

What should we call you? Rach

Who lives in your home? (This might include ages of children or number and kinds of pets.)Self, SO (male 30), daughter (2 yrs)

What kind of home are you keeping (house, apartment, dorm...)? House

What's your current career status? WOHM

How long have you been using the FlyLady system? Since right before Christmas. I tried several years ago, but it did not click with me. It does now.

What is the most important thing FlyLady has taught you? Progress not perfection, accumulation of bits of cleaning make a bigger difference than crisis cleaning.

What things have been big stumbling blocks for you? Not enough hours in the day. I can get my small routines in, but with work and a toddler, I have to cut things short.

What would be your advice to someone just finding FlyLady? Don't be put off by the cutesyness?

Do you have a favorite cleaning tool or tip to share? Not flylady related, but I've discovered that a thick paste of baking soda and water rubbed onto the microwave gunk and nuked for 1 minute works wonders for a neglected microwave.

Where are you with FlyLady right now? Still working through the babysteps.

Is there any particular part of the program you're working on now? Dinner is a big struggle, so I have jumped ahead and am working on menu plans. So far, this has been nothing but a huge benefit.

Hobbies? Interests? Working out, nutrition, natural/organic health living, natural birth, etc.

Links to share? nothing new

Anything Else?? I've learned to keep my mouth shut about flylady. If I tell my SO that I am following some program with a silly name, he will mock me endlessly. It's bad enough that he seems to try harder to keep things messy the harder I try to keep them clean. Dealing with a messy SO is a HUGE struggle for me right now, as I'm sure it is for many of you. Also, I shared with a co-worker who is at her wits end with disorganization and cleaning (perfect flybaby material), and she says she can't shine her sink because the stopper doesn't work. *sigh* I guess everyone finds the help they need when the time is right.
